M49 weird problem
There is a weird problem with my M49. Sometimes I'm playing and all of a sudden some of the knobs red LEDs turn on, like when you move the knobs, except I'm not even touching them. Sometimes it doesn't affect instruments but sometimes it changes parameters randomly which is very annoying. I played live in a concert with the M49 one night when suddenly the knobs LEDs turned on and the VST instrument I was playing went silent, I had to turn it off and on again to reset. I have the feeling that the problem may be related to power issues. I was very happy with the M49, best value on a midi controller ever, but this problem is really disappointing me. I can't use it live anymore because it's unreliable. |

Dear Jose, Thank you for contacting us and for purchasing our product. I’m sorry for the inconvenience. I’ve tried to collect all the possible steps that can help to make your M49 work as it was intended to. Please make sure that no USB 1.x device is connected to the same USB hub with M49. Please note, on some motherboards USB ports are linked together by twos. Try all the USB ports, sometimes there can be differences between the ports. For instance, the keyboard is connected to an internal USB port on some laptops and its pair can have decreased performance. Please try to avoid any external USB hubs unless its an active hub. Some USB ports can’t provide sufficient power as defined by the USB standards, so it is possible that it will work reliably only with an external DC power adapter. I hope the above helps. Hi. Thanks for your support. I haven't been able to replicate the problem at will but I was lucky enough to catch it on video once, I didn't touch the keyboard, I only turned it on to USB power. It happens specially when I turn the M49 after one or two days without using it but it also happens sometimes in the middle of a recording. I have not tried with a DC external supply, it's not practical for portability but I'll try it soon. Please check the video attached, maybe it can shed some light on the matter. Due to its many features, M49 is sensitive to decent power supply, however it is difficult to exclude a hardware failure either. If you don’t like the idea of an additional DC PSU, I could suggest an “Y” USB B cable for consideration, which is a cheaper solution too.
