Constant CPU usage or SEND TO buttons no longer working
Still being stuck on using the drivers (1.07) which came with my card due to constant CPU usage on one core when using any of the drivers from this site. I have found a new issue where the SEND TO function has stopped working but I have no choice but to use these drivers otherwise the card is useless due to dragging down the PC. I see there has been no response to any of the other Quartet users from support so I guess anyone with the CPU usage issue is going to have to return the card and spread the word the potential of issue this card can have due to the current drivers on this site. No one wants to buy a product which has drivers which do not work properly and does not state the possibility of the issue even though this is a serious issue. If there is NO solution the software developer can come up with for this problem can support just let us know so we can return the card. Thanks |

Dear Al, Thank you for contacting us and for purchasing our product. I’m terribly sorry for the long waiting and the inconvenience it has caused. Unfortunately a few motherboards are affected by this problem. Your Foxconn Winfast NF4SK8AA-8EKRS motherboard is equipped with 3 PCI slots, please try to install Quartet in all of them and let me know the results. Hi, Balint Thank you for responding and making the effort to look in to the spec of my motherboard to look for a work around. I have moved the card into another PCI slot which ends up using the another IRQ which is the same as the GPU and so the same issue happens. The precious one would share IRQs with 3 other motherboard based devices. The GPU has it's own HD audio which may be a possible conflict with the sound card but it is not confirmed yet. I have one more slot to try out which will be right under the cooling fans of the GPU which I wioll try in the near future. I do not know what is so different between the 1.07 drivers and the 1.14 and later versions of the Quartet drivers which are causing a constant CPU usage. I would be happy to do my best to offer you any information to resolve this issue, I have some computer knowledge and currently back in studying computer programming so I could likely provide information which you may need to correct the issue in later drivers. |

Dear Allan, Thank you for your kind reply. Please allow me some further questions. Which 3 integrated devices are those, which are sharing their IRQ with the current PCI slot? Have you tried to install Windows 7? If yes, how does Quartet behave under it? None of the motherboards are affected by this problem under Windows 7. There were many changes in the driver since 1.07, all of them improved the performance and introduced new features. Generally the best thing you could do, beyond installing Windows 7, is to disable the shared onboard devices to find the guilty one. I suspect it will be a USB controller.
